12 JANUARY 2023They say time flies when you are having fun. Roy Gandy, the owner, and co-founder of Rega must be having a blast! The last 50 years have sailed by and from humble beginnings in 1973, making a handful of turntables for friends, Rega has since grown into a multi-million pound audio engineering company making award-winning hi-fi products that are supplied across the globe.

Since inception, our expertise in mechanical and electrical engineering was combined with three core values; to create products that perform beyond expectation, deliver unrivalled value for money, and offer lifelong reliability. These same values are upheld today and are key factors in our continued growth and success.

Engineering has always been the beating heart of Rega Research, a company obsessed with specialist materials, tolerances, and accuracy. We remain a dedicated British manufacturer and currently employ over 140 people who design, carefully assemble, and dispatch every single product by hand from our custom-built facility in the Southeast of England.

During those fifty years, Rega has famously never placed a paid advert choosing to spend what would be a substantial advertising budget on R&D, ensuring each of our core values are upheld for you the customer. Combine these ideals with a passion for music and you start to see how Rega has successfully made it to this important milestone!

With 2023 being our 50th anniversary, rest assured we will be launching a selection of ground-breaking new products and of course, you can expect some anniversary specials along the way. So, keep a close eye on the Rega website and social channels throughout this year.

Rega are proud to have been approached by legendary rock band ‘Queen’ to produce a limited edition (fully licensed) turntable to coincide with the release of their 18 piece 180g vinyl LP boxset containing all 15 hit studio albums sourced from the original master tapes mastered by Bob Ludwig and cut at Abbey Road studios.

The design of this unique custom turntable includes reproductions of classic Queen logo’s, and incorporates the tonearm technology of the multi-award-winning ‘plug and play’ Rega turntables. Both brand and band are quintessentially English and the combination of engineering and musical achievements make for a perfect match.
